Day 16 – Sydney Day 4 – Last day- fun at the zoo

The weather was beautiful so we had our last breakfast on the veranda – we had our usual granola and yogurt and cheese and toast and juice and coffee and tea – plus all of the remaining leftovers. Delicious with a gorgeous view.

The rain ended in mid-morning so headed to the Sydney Zoo. We spent most of the day in Australian section and finally saw a kangaroo (a variety of different kinds). We saw the seal show and there was an strong focus on sustainable fishing – very impressive (and the seals were fun too). The Zoo was built on a hill overlooking the city across the harbour so we had gorgeous views of the city. Most zoo have little bids wandering around the paths – Sydney’s zoo has very large birds and 18″ lizards – cute lizards, but still 18″ long! The zoo also had a ski lift-type ride – we took a round-trip ride and saw even more views of the harbour. The only thing we couldn’t do is the high ropes course above the zoo. The course let you walk above some of the walkways and exhibits – and Ryan and I were five minutes too late to sign-up. We promised to run a ropes course when Ryan comes home.

We pondered what type of food to have for dinner (that hadn’t had before) and ended up a really nice family-run Indian restaurant under the Sydney Harbour bridge. Great sizzling mushrooms, naan and other dishes. Sydney is a great foodie-town – there are multiple restaurants on every block- small places, many open air, every ethnic group that you think off. We could visit and eat in a different really good restaurant every night for months.

After dinner, took one more walk near the harbour (for one more set of photos).

And followed that with one more trip to Coles – to buy another 12 bars of soap (goat and papaya) for gifts.
