Getting ready to go

We left NC Friday afternoon after dropping Ringo off ‘at camp’ and packing the car with suitcases and stuff with Heather. Made a dinner walk and stop at Potomac Mills mall. Dinner was burgers at Bobby’s Burger Palace (Bobby Flay) and they were really good! Highly recommend the blue cheese burger, green chili burger, Mulberry Street  special and the Classic!

Heather was visiting a friend’s new apartment and we arrived at her apartment at the same time. Unpacked (a little), ate some more, set up the air mattress and went to sleep.

Saturday started hauling Heather’s mattress downstairs and meeting the guys with the “Uber Truck”. Heather ordered a new foam mattress and wanted to donate her existing mattress, but the donation center was 20 minutes away and we didn’t have a large enough vehicle. So Uber has a new service where a pick-up truck shows up and helps you load your stuff and then drives it where you want. Guys were very nice – we followed behind (unlike Uber, you can’t ride in the truck).

After returning to Heather’s, we started on the next project –  attaching Heather’s bed frame to her headboard. She was using tie-wraps, but needed a better solution. She purchased a universal bracket and the headboard had ‘standard’ holes drilled – and of course, they did not . Luckily, Heather planned ahead and asked us to bring our drills, so we drilled new holes in the headboard and success! We ‘unwrapped’ Heather’s new foam mattress which was shrink-wrapped and it drew to normal size in a couple of minutes and Heather had a new bed. We planned to do this so the mattress could air out (and stop smelling), so she should be ready to sleep on it when she returns.

Next stop was lunch with Katie at The Pig – delicious brunch and lunch fare. Breakfast “Sammies”, French toast, biscuit and gravy, hot dogs and mixed breakfast plate. All was great.

Back to Heather’s to finish packing and off to Dulles Airport – a very pretty airport – lots of shops and places to eat. They even have a Japanese Cherry Blossom ‘garden’ – very cute and relaxing.

Time to board…
